Truvada is approved by The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treating and preventing HIV infection. Truvada is a “backbone” medication, meaning that you can take other drugs in combination in what is called an HIV treatment plan. According to treatment guidelines, Truvada, in combination with another antiviral drug, is considered a first-choice option for a person who’s starting HIV treatment. The Trump administration supports grants to help end the HIV epidemic.
